Joshua took a long and winding road to becoming an entrepreneur. Born and raised in Surrey, Krenus went right into the family’s construction business out of high school. At Common Ground, he was able to learn and experience every angle of small business from staffing and budgeting to projecting and strategy.

In 2012, after four years in the family business, Joshua decided to start his own company. With a passion for cars, Krenus began handing out flyers in the Shaughnessy neighborhood of Vancouver offering mobile detailing services – a few months later, Krenus Detailers supported three staff and had made their first acquisition.

Although detailing was an amazing experience, Joshua felt he needed to grow as an entrepreneur, and the only way to do that was to change fields. One of his detailing clients was the founder of Canadian Direct Insurance, a large insurer, whom Joshua got to know quite well over the years. In 2017, Krenus approached him on starting a local insurance agency, and the pair got right to it - by January of 2018, Alteri Insurance was born and had sold its first general insurance policy. Within a few short years, Alteri became home to thousands of clients, and millions in written premium between BC and Alberta.

In the Summer of 2024, Krenus sold Alteri to Southampton Financial, a private equity firm based out of Toronto.

Joshua has now re-joined the family business and he is excited to add further value to the company. In his spare time, oversee’s his other businesses and ventures - Lions Gate Luxury and Whipy.

Joshua Krenus has been recognized as a 30 Under 30 recipient in 2017, a 40 Under 40 recipient in 2023, and sat on the board of the ABC Political Party, successfully getting Ken Sim elected Mayor of Vancouver.
